INTRODUCTION

I am not a doctor, not a nurse, not a medical practioner of any kind. But, like everyone else including you, I have opinions, and life experience which led me to those opinions.
My most unenviable life experience is that my wife became a brittle diabetic in 1972, and that harsh reality has dominated our life ever since. But, because of modern medicine and our diligence, she is still alive and happy. Not as ambulatory as in years past, but we're doing fine and are happy.
So, I thought I would begin this section about health by writing about diabetes. I hope these two essays will be useful to you, or if not to you, then to someone you know.
